Yesterday we visited Katsura Detached Palace. It is a beautiful palace done in the Shoin style...the epitome of traditional Japanese architectural design. The landscape was amazing. It was designed so that as you walk along the path, you experience different framed views. It is apparently very hard to go see...we had to make a reservation a week ago (with our passports) and they split our class into small groups of four and stuck us in with large groups of mostly senior citizen Japanese.
The weather was soooo nice!! Last week I was freezing; wearing about five layers, but luckily it has warmed up considerably.
